Abstract

In this paper, a reconfiguration strategy for distribution network based on a power supply capacity index (PSCI) is proposed to tackle the security problems caused by the increasing number of electric vehicles (EVs) with spatial-temporal charging loads in active distribution network (ADN). Firstly, a spatial and temporal model is developed to obtain all the EV charging loads in the ADN along one scheduling day. Then, the PSCI is proposed to evaluate the security level of ADN by repetitive power flow with variable step size. The reconfiguration strategy is proposed for pursuing the maximum PSCI of ADN when the PSCI is lower than a predefined warning value caused by the variations of EV charging loads along one scheduling day, which can increase the EV hosting capacity and reliability of ADN to some extent. Case studies are carried out by using a typical IEEE-33 bus ADN to verify the effectiveness of the proposed reconfiguration strategy.
