Abstract Water electrolysis is considered a potentially practical technology for massive production of hydrogen with very high purity. Electrocatalytic water splitting achieved by graphene hybrids has been the subject of extensive investigations, in which graphene plays multiple roles as electroactive component and/or functionalized support. In this Minireview, we summarize the recent significant advances in graphene hybrid electrocatalyst development for water‐splitting, especially highlighting the design strategies of graphene hybrids and the roles of graphene as electrocatalyst and/or support. Finally, the remaining challenges and future perspectives on graphene hybrid electrocatalyst design for water‐splitting are also discussed.
