Effect on power quality by large penetration of household non linear load

Abstract

In recent year power quality has become very dominant issue for domestic load. Now a days there are various types of new household appliances are used that are nonlinear in characteristics. The causes of poor power qualities are harmonics, voltage fluctuation, poor power factor etc. The result of poor power qualities are voltage sag, swell, momentary interruption, under voltage, over voltage, noise and harmonics are most common disturbance. The paper deals with the measurement of total harmonic distortion THD of new household appliances are used as domestic load like laptop, power bank, mobile charger, CFL and LED.
