Abstract

The main feature of this book is the direct introduction to a number of quantitative analytical approximation techniques which may be used to obtain solutions to nonlinear oscillations of one-dimensional physical systems represented by a harmonic oscillation equation and the addition of a 'small' nonlinear term. For students in physics, mathematics and engineering the book presents a self-contained text consisting of 158 pages and 9 appendices, which contain summaries of various mathematical relationships and discussion topics relevant to the subject matter of the book.
