Abstract

Here, we present a novel fabrication method to synthesize Graphene Quantum Dots (GQDs) and discuss their potential for optical sensing applications. Also we invented a new and simple method to detect CO2 dissolved in water using photoluminescence. The hydrothermal process was employed with organic salt as intercalant of Graphite intercalation compounds (GICs). Obtained high quality GQDs are very optically sensitive for different kinds of sensing applications including gas and bio-sensors. Photoluminescence (PL), UV-vis, FT-IR spectrums and SEM image were used for characterization. Our synthesizing method is simple, cost-effective, eases of mass production with high yield as well as characterized by low level of defects
