Abstract

Fused donor–donor–acceptor triads composed of tetrathiafulvalenes (TTFs) and benzoquinone (BQ) or naphthoquinone (NQ) were synthesized. The bis(methylsulfanyl)-TTFs-BQ and TTFs-NQ serve as a positive electrode active material for the rechargeable lithium battery with an energy density of over 800 mW h g−1. The bis(methylsulfanyl)-TTFs-NQ also functions as an active material for the rechargeable sodium battery.
