Abstract

This book contains the edited proceedings of a symposium of the same title held at the University of Southampton in 1976, sponsored by the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. The object of the symposium, which is reflected in the book, was to bring together mathematicians and engineers who had a common interest in dynamical problems of a stochastic nature.
