Zn(II) ion removal from synthetic wastewater was investigated using ion flotation in Hallimond tube followed by mechanical cell. The flotation reaction rate curve on the removal of Zn(II) ions in the separation process was divided into two stages, with n ≈ 1 in the first stage and with n ≈ 0 in the second stage. The kinetics of flotation for Zn(II) ion removal was 25 times faster than the kinetics for water removal. The removal kinetics has an inverse relation with the ionic strength and a direct relation with activity coefficients.
