Abstract

A Cys selective water soluble Cu(<sc>ii</sc>)-Schiff-base fluorescent probe isolated in the solid state exhibits <italic>in vitro</italic> and <italic>in vivo</italic> cyclic fluorescence ‘on–off’ response.
