Ultra-high Modulus Polymers

Abstract

This book concerns the preparation, processing and properties, together with some underlying theory, of oriented polymers with moduli of about 70 GPa or more. The achievement of such moduli is recent and highly topical and has been the result either of new processing methods for conventional polymers (e.g. polyethylene) or of the development of chemically new materials (polyaramides), both aspects of which are covered here.
