Abstract

This volume was prepared as a tribute to Prof J H de Boer who has celebrated his 70th birthday recently. There has been a great increase in our understanding of the structure, texture and stability of high area solids in the last 20 to 30 years, gained largely by well planned and carefully executed adsorption studies, and also by the application of a variety of physical techniques.
