Enhancing the capacity beyond Terabit per second for transparent optical transport network

Abstract

We review the recent challenges facing high capacity transport technologies with the goal of over Tbps capacity. Novel modulation formats, multiplexing schemes, and distributed amplification are described that show the feasibility of an over 10 Tbps optical transport system with the channel rate over 100 Gbps.
