We successfully synthesized counterion-sensitive TPE–METAC polyelectrolyte microspheres and tuned its fluorescence and size by ClO<sub>4</sub><sup>−</sup>, PF<sub>6</sub><sup>−</sup> and TFSI<sup>−</sup>.
