Barley leaves treated with 5 p.p.m. S02 in the presence of 14C02 showed an accumulation of [14C]glycollic acid and 14C-labelled sugar phosphates together with a decrease in [14C]sucrose and 14C-labelled pigments compared with untreated leaves.
