Abstract

Training equipping and supporting community health workers to provide a wide range of contraceptive methods can help to increase contraceptive use particularly where unmet family planning need is high access to services is low and geographic or social barriers to use of services exist. This eight-page brief describes the importance of community-based family planning programs as a means of reducing inequities in access to services and outlines key issues for planning and implementation.
