Abstract In this study, we found that acid-catalyzed ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of γ-butyrolactone, which showed difficulty progressing in general ROP, took place under high-pressure conditions. The structure of the product was confirmed by the 1H NMR spectrum to be poly(γ-butyrolactone). Furthermore, the Mn values increased with increasing monomer conversions.
