This work analyzes the effect of the BMS on the performance of a Li-ion battery module by means of charge, discharge and frequency response tests. A model considering BMS effects is carried out and compared with a model based on a single cell approach. Experimental validation shows that single-cell based approach gives very poor results, and that overall accuracy can be significantly improved by considering the BMS effects.
