Abstract

Two DNA profiling methods have been used for variety discrimination in potatoes. Sequence tagged site analysis of microsatellites was shown to be very efficient and was more reliable than inter-SSR PCR analysis. Using only 3 microsatellite primer pairs, it was possible to distinguish between 50 potato varieties.
