A Pd-catalyzed methodology for the preparation of tertiary enamides from acyclic secondary amides and bromo acrylates under mild reaction conditions has been developed using [Pd 2 (dba) 3 ], XantPhos, and Ag 2 CO 3 as a base. The reaction occurs through a stereospecific metal-mediated oxidative-insertion mechanism.
