Stellio – development, construction and testing of a smart heliostat

Abstract

In this paper the major findings of the general characteristics of a smart, cost-efficient heliostat are presented and explained. They were implemented in the ‘Stellio’ heliostat design. Manufacturing, assembly and construction of the Stellio heliostat are described and own and third-party measurements on concentrator optical quality and tracking quality are presented.
