Rare phenoxo- and cyano-bridged CuLnFe trinuclear complexes were prepared. The 1D Cu<sub>2</sub>DyFe complex displays both single-chain magnetic properties and the intrachain Cu(<sc>ii</sc>)–Fe(<sc>iii</sc>) antiferromagnetic coupling.
