In a study of the growth of various body parts of the ostrich, only the growth of the head could be described with the Gompertz function. The growth of the ostrich head ( y in g) with time ( x in months) is described by the Gompertz function y = 613 exp[−ln (613/133) exp(−0·26 x )]. This information could be used in the design of carcass classification systems.
