Selecting the right IoT cloud platform

Abstract

More Things than human beings on the earth are now citizens of Internet. The count of internet-connected Thing is growing very rapidly. To support handling large scale of Things, apart from private solutions, many cloud frameworks including open source and paid, have already been developed. Adoption of some of those frameworks, although slow, but have begun. In this paper, a comprehensive list of functionality and best practice of an IoT cloud platform are presented. This will not only help compare different cloud platforms, but also will help create an enriched cloud framework if it is to be developed from scratch. In fact the levels of support of these requirements provided by some of the existing cloud frameworks are summarized too.
