A sertes of experiments were conducted to investigate the partical use of wood residue in developing a lighter weight and lower cost cement-based masonry unit. After verifying the technical feasibility of mixing the wood residue with cement and aggregate, the project was divided into a number of phases. These phases included experimental programs that were designed to improve the mix qualities as well as study the physical and structural characteristics of the new masonry unit
