Abstract

Since its introductíon by K,M. Case the method of singular eigen funcion expansions has proved itself to be a practical tool for solving the simpler types of transport problems. Being straight -forward and reminiscent of well-known techniques in other fields of mathematical physics the method appeals strongly to those who study transport phenomena. The theory presented in this thesis is intended to provide the method with a mathematical rigour that is needed to obtain precise results as well as far reaching generalizations. ... Zie: Preface
