Abstract

Hydrographic investigations at two different stations viz. Kattumavadi and Kottaipattinam of the Palk Bay, revealed temporal variation for all the hydrographical features observed. Marked spatial variations were noticed in light penetration, dissolved oxygen and nutrient concentration. Nutrients concentration were relatively higher than that of the other parts of the Indian coast, indicating the fertile nature of this region.
