The interrelation between node of flowering, rate of node production and times of flower initiation, and flowering is examined and the limitations of node of flowering as an index of development defined. Node of flowering is shown to be useful as an index of development only in so far as it can be used to estimate time of flower initiation and for this to be possible, information on rate of node production is also required.
