Abstract

A 23 year old woman was hospitalized as an emergency with acute pain in the upper part of the abdomen. A history of prolonged use of oral contraceptives and the absence of tumor markers favored the diagnosis of a ruptured adenoma of the liver. The tumor was found to lie between the inferior vena cava, the ligamentum venosum and the main portal trunk, and was located precisely within the caudate lobe of the liver
