SummaryA dimethylformamide electrolyte has been developed which allows the sustained deposition of high quality chromium/nickel and chromium/nickel/iron alloys in thicknesses up to 800μm with a constant composition. Control of the low transient levels of Cr(II) generated at the cathode is necessary. The cathode potential is controlled in combination with circulation and agitation of the electrolyte and the generation of dissolved chlorine as the preferred anodic product.
