Abstract

In recent years the transmissibility concept has been generalized, from the usual and well-known single-degree-of-freedom system to systems with multiple degrees-of-freedom. It has also been shown that such a generalization opened new perspectives and possible applications to some areas in Modal Analysis, namely for the detection and localization of damage in structures. The main purpose of this paper is to summarize the theory, enhance the developments made and illustrate the main results that are expected to be achieved when applying the transmissibility concept to the detection and location of structural damage.
