This paper reports the preliminary investigations on the TL characteristics of LiF (Mg, Cu, P) TLD phosphor. The main dosimetric peak of this phosphor occurs at 225 oC and its TL sensitivity to gamma radiation is 1.4 and 38 times higher than that of CaSO4:Dy and LiF (TLD-100) respectively. Its TL sensitivity is strongly dependent on temperature and duration of annealing. By reading in a TL readout cycle up to 325 oC the TL sensitivity of the phosphor falls to about 25% of its original sensitivity. However, by annealing the phosphor at 250 oC for 15 minutes, it was possible to regain the original sensitivity. Photon energy dependence and re-usability characteristics are also reported.
