Abstract

The staffing of a large hospital microbiology laboratory is briefly discussed, and details of the specimens required for processing in such a laboratory are given. The interpretation of the results sent to the clinician is discussed. Particular reference is made to the requirement of serum assay of antibiotics. The influence of jaundice on plate assay of antibiotics Is published for the first time.
