Abstract

The chloroform extract of T. vulgare leaves was studied for its antiinflammatory activity. Given by intraperitoneal route, the extract inhibited in a dose-dependent way the carrageenin-induced paw-edema in rats ; the calculated ED 50 was 15.2 (7.6-30.4) mg/kg. The extract also inhibited the subchronic inflammation induced by Freund's adjuvant in doses ranging from 80 to 160 mg/kg i.p.. Indomethacin was used as a reference compound.
