Abstract

Abstract Rats subjected to hypoxic anoxia, whether at low pressure or atmospheric pressure, respond to this condition with an increase in plasma erythropoietin. Ligation of ureters for relatively short times does not interfere with this response. Nephrectomy completely abolishes this response.
