Detailed analysis of selective renal arteriograms and renal biopsies of 66 patients indicated a variety of arteriographie in each parenchymal disease. None of the criteria used in the evaluation of arteriograms was fonnd to be representative of a specific disease. In 23% with normal biopsies, the distribution of abnormal findings was similar to that in proved renal parenchymal disease. In some categories abnormal findings were more numerous in the normal group. Only 11% of patients with arterial nephrosclerosis showed generalized pruning of peripheral vessels bilaterally. In 20% of the normal group the same pathological changes were seen. In 40% arteriolar nephrosclerosis almost always affected both kidneys and unilateral small kidneys were seen.
