A perfectly intact ZIF-67-derived NiCo<sub>2</sub>O<sub>4</sub> shell had been decorated on a Co<sub>3</sub>O<sub>4</sub> nanowire core. Due to the specific core–shell structure, the resulting hybrid nanowire array exhibited remarkable electrochemical properties.
