This paper updates previous reports from the University of Missouri and summarizes six years of experience in diagnosing and treating peritonitis at this center. The incidence of peritonitis remains much lower than in early years. In 1981, the trend appeared to be towards more frequent hospitalization and more frequent catheter removal with peritonitis. In 1982, these trends rever sed; with lower frequencies of tunnel infection, hospitalization, and catheter removal.
