Abstract

Few experiences are so demoralising as working with 'resistant', 'borderline' or 'impossible' clients. Many techniques have been proposed but few work well. Here Barry Duncan and Scott Miller outline a treatment strategy that usually does work and, though it contravenes much accepted practice, it may just turn out to be the best method for helping such cases.
