There was no correlation between the extent of pelvic injury and degree of hematuria but hematuria was present in all patients with a urological injury. All urological injuries occurred with anterior arch fractures. The over-all incidence of injury was 13.5 per cent (bladder 9 per cent, urethra 3.5 per cent and combined 1 per cent). Limited extraperitoneal bladder ruptures were treated successfully by Foley catheter drainage. © 1983 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited byCORRIERE J (2018) 1-STAGE DELAYED BULBOPROSTATIC ANASTOMOTIC REPAIR OF POSTERIOR URETHRAL RUPTURE: : 60 PATIENTS WITH 1-YEAR FOLLOWUPJournal of Urology, VOL. 165, NO. 2, (404-407), Online publication date: 1-Feb-2001.KORAITIM M (2018) PELVIC FRACTURE URETHRAL INJURIES: THE UNRESOLVED CONTROVERSYJournal of Urology, VOL. 161, NO. 5, (1433-1441), Online publication date: 1-May-1999.Porter J, Takayama T and Defalco A (2018) Traumatic Posterior Urethral Injury and Early Realignment Using Magnetic Urethral CathetersJournal of Urology, VOL. 158, NO. 2, (425-430), Online publication date: 1-Aug-1997.Corriere J (2018) Editorial CommentsJournal of Urology, VOL. 147, NO. 1, (143-143), Online publication date: 1-Jan-1992.McAninch J (2018) Editorial CommentsJournal of Urology, VOL. 147, NO. 1, (143-143), Online publication date: 1-Jan-1992.Perry M and Husmann D (2018) Urethral Injuries in Female Subjects Following Pelvic FracturesJournal of Urology, VOL. 147, NO. 1, (139-143), Online publication date: 1-Jan-1992.Cohen E, Scherz H and Lowell Parsons C (2018) Voiding Dysfunction Secondary to Penetrating Bony Fragment 20 Years After Pelvic FractureJournal of Urology, VOL. 141, NO. 3 Part 1, (606-607), Online publication date: 1-Mar-1989.Lowe M, Mason J, Luna G, Maier R, Copass M and Berger R (2018) Risk Factors for Urethral Injuries in Men with Traumatic Pelvic FracturesJournal of Urology, VOL. 140, NO. 3, (506-507), Online publication date: 1-Sep-1988.Oesterling J, Goldman S and Lowe F (2018) Intravesical Herniation of Small Bowel After Bladder PerforationJournal of Urology, VOL. 138, NO. 5, (1236-1238), Online publication date: 1-Nov-1987.Wolk D, Sandler C and Corriere J (2018) Extraperitoneal Bladder Rupture Without Pelvic FractureJournal of Urology, VOL. 134, NO. 6, (1199-1201), Online publication date: 1-Dec-1985.
