A Comparison of Haloperidol with Methadone in BlockingHeroin-Withdrawal Symptoms

Abstract

Based upon suggestions from animal studies, haloperidol was investigated for its effectiveness in alleviating heroin abstinence in 10 subjects. Haloperidol compared well with methadone in suppressing heroin abstinence, including craving for the drug.
