THE ensuing subject matter deals principally with the problem of determining the concentration of oxygen at which the anaerobic respiration of apples becomes extinguished. Pure nitrogen has been used in most of the recent work on the anaerobic respiration of plants, and we propose to follow We shall refer to the concentration of oxygen that extinguishes N.R.
