Australian GPs have positive views about the purpose of clinical practice guidelines and an evidence-based approach to guidelines development. However, respondents rating of the perceived impact of available guidelines in everyday practice was low. The dissemination of specific guidelines is patchy and there is little evidence of systematic implementation.
