This CPK defect appears to resemble closely human Infantile Polycystic Kidney Disease in its pattern of inheritance, clinical course, and appearance of the kidney in the severely affected animal. Histologic studies of early postnatal animals suggest that cystic alterations may occur first in the proximal tubules and secondarily affect the collecting ducts. The CPK mouse mutant should prove useful in further investigations into the early morphologic alterations and progression of cystic disease. © 1982 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited byKoumegawa J, Nagano N, Arai H, Wada M, Kusaka M and Takahashi H (2018) Anemia in New Congenital Adult Type Polycystic Kidney MiceJournal of Urology, VOL. 146, NO. 6, (1645-1649), Online publication date: 1-Dec-1991.Horton C, Davisson M, Jacobs J, Bernstein G, Retik A and Mandell J (2018) Congenital Progressive Hydronephrosis in Mice: A New Recessive MutationJournal of Urology, VOL. 140, NO. 5 Part 2, (1310-1315), Online publication date: 1-Nov-1988.Takahashi H, Ueyama Y, Hibino T, Kuwahara Y, Suzuki S, Hioki K and Tamaoki N (2018) A New Mouse Model of Genetically Transmitted Polycystic Kidney DiseaseJournal of Urology, VOL. 135, NO. 6, (1280-1283), Online publication date: 1-Jun-1986.Fry J, Koch W, Jennette J, Mcfarland E, Fried F and Mandell J (2018) A Genetically Determined Murine Model of Infantile Polycystic Kidney DiseaseJournal of Urology, VOL. 134, NO. 4, (828-833), Online publication date: 1-Oct-1985.Nidess R, Koch W, Fried F, McFarland E and Mandell J (2018) Development of the Embryonic Murine Kidney in Normal and Congenital Polycystic Kidney Disease: Characterization of a Proximal Tubular Degenerative Process as the First Observable Light Microscopic DefectJournal of Urology, VOL. 131, NO. 1, (156-162), Online publication date: 1-Jan-1984.
