Abstract

<p>User experience design requires communication to share design information and to integrate specialised knowledge to optimise design performance. Personal experience during communication process will influence individual participation, the output of communication and design performance. Defined by absorption into stories, narrative transportation will lead changes in beliefs and attitudes, which is potentially beneficial to design communication. This paper explores the role of narrative transportation in the communication of user experience design through literature review and experiments. The role of narrative transportation is positive proved by the increased effectiveness of design communication. It also provides a support of the importance to use storytelling in user experience design and implies the necessity of tools supporting storytelling.</p>
