In a double-blind uncrossed trial extending over three months of patients with chronic pain from either osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, the antidepressant dibenzepin (Noveril) was demonstrated to lessen the pain and consequently lower the analgesic intake when compared with placebo.
