Socioeconomic factors and the risk of metabolic syndrome in the adult Polish population: the WOBASZ study.

Abstract

A relatively high percentage of individuals with MetS was observed in the Polish population aged 20 to 74 years. In both sexes, the risk of MetS and its contributing factors was significantly associated with age and the following lifestyle factors: body mass index, smoking, self-rated health and, additionally for women, higher education and alcohol intake.
