The extent of surgery appears to be an important prognostic factor for predicting outcome, although this may represent selection bias. Long-term disease control is excellent after subtotal resection and postoperative radiotherapy. Encouraging initial results have been seen with gamma knife radiosurgery, and the potential for gamma knife radiosurgery to replace more extensive surgical resection should be further explored.
