Abstract

A new type of tendon transfer is recommended for the treatment of paralytic drop foot. In this procedure, the tendon of the tibialis posterior is transferred to the tibialis anterior and the tendon of the flexor digitorum to the extensor digitorum longus and the extensor hallucis longus, through the interosseous membrane. We feel that this procedure is indicated in patients who have traumatic paralysis of the common peroneal nerve and leprous paralysis with or without trophic changes in the foot.
