Abstract

Tangential pressure (TP) , as defined in this study, is that pressure parallel to and located at the socket inner face. The talrgential pressure resultant (TP,) will possess a horizontal component (TP,) directed along an axis perpendicular to the main socket axis and a vertical component (TP,) directed along the main socket axis (see Fig. 1). The plane in which all tangential pressures exist is at right angles to the perpendicular pressure (PP) , i.e., squeeze pressure developed between the socket and the stump.
