A case is reported of oesophageal ulceration associated with ingestion of a doxycycline (Vibramycin) capsule in a patient with a normal oesophagus. It is suggested that doxycycline in capsule form be avoided in the treatment of patients who may have oesophageal obstruction and compression, including patients with cardiac enlargement.
